Exercise 2.

Write down a polynomial with roots x=-1, x=3, and x=0.

Solution.

Since x=-1 is a root of the polynomial f(x) we are looking for, (x-(-1))=(x+1) must be a linear factor of f(x); similarly (x-3) and (x-0)=x will be factors. So one possible choice for f(x) is
